Documentary about Las Bordadoras de Isla Negra, 1980
This documentary by filmmaker Cecilia Domeyko, who wrote the script and directed it, was produced in the late 1980s, when the Bordadoras de Isla Negra were at their peak and Isla Negra was a quiet little town. The women who produced these beautiful tapestries managed to change their town through their work. It is a story of women’s empowerment, of the magic of transforming flour cloths into works of art and of the creation process that is also magical.
